Wow... a country tour promo aboard a private jet? Domyoji Tsukasa is acting true to form.
From Tokyo Graph:
Last weekend, the highly anticipated Hana Yori Dango Final opened on 400 screens. In its first five days, it was watched by approximately 1.35 million people, grossing more than 1.6 billion yen. This puts it roughly on par with last year's HERO, which went on to take in a total of 8 billion yen.
As a way of showing appreciation for the fans, starring actress Mao Inoue and F4 (Jun Matsumoto, Shun Oguri, Shota Matsuda, Tsuyoshi Abe) will be flying to various cities in a private jet next weekend. The plane is a Boeing 737-500 (which can normally seat about 130 passengers). They will visit Sapporo, Nagoya, and Fukuoka on July 12, then Osaka and Tokyo on July 13. The total trip amounts to 4,660 kilometers.
Chartering a jet for a publicity campaign is said to have never been done before for a Japanese film.

Two nights ago, I heard him speak at the foreign correspondents' club and he did not disappoint. He knows how to answer questions, the type you would never win a debate against, except that his style was more suave and laidback and not confrontational. Sure, he had his sarcastic comments but they never sounded wry enough to come out cocky. He came across like an everyday guy you can approach and discuss, debate if you may, about the latest issues. And he even managed to maintain a poker face over the stupid questions and those that were simply baiting him to get into trouble.
He also struck me as idealistic with the way he defined democracy and viewed the ongoing protests on the streets against the government. Here are some of his quotes from his talk:
"Don't blame the present paralysis (on democracy) on the Thai people. Blame it on the political and power elites who hold on to their oligopolies."
"People in power don't appreciate that democracy comes with a limited government. It's not about using power to abuse... they believe that because they have the majority, they can do what they like."
"In a democracy, people can exercise their rights within the constitution. The constitution clearly sets the standards on what you can or can't do... let us not allow democracy to go into anarchy."
"I never agree with the winner-takes-all policy... in a democratic government, it has to be a limited government. The Democrats believe in a two-party system... I have never agreed with Khun Thaksin's one-state policy before. You have to have the government and the opposition to give people a choice."
"We have to leave the military out of politics and keep the monarchy above politics... Thaksin changed that."
Abhisit looks too clean-cut literally and figuratively to make it in the political arena. He's a new-age-politician as opposed to the old politician who runs around town with a gazillion of bodyguards and leads an ostentatious lifestyle, the family all over the place and exercises power as much as he does. Abhisit is low-key. Maybe he's just ahead og his time. Give and take a few years, who knows, he might be the country's PM.
The Internet has become a vicious world where people can just say anything against anyone they don't like. I have been guilty of letting out my displeasure with some people I know a couple of times but it never went to the extent of destroying people's lives. It was just a way of releasing stress and anger. Galit ako ngayon, bukas maaring lumipas na. I even deleted some of the angry posts feeling sheepish over those outbursts. But there are people who create blogs just to put down other people, to spread hate, even to encourage others to post about those they don't like. That's why I was never a fan of the Australian blogger's who got scammed by his Filipino ex-lover or this chikatime that was recently forced to close down over libelous posts they made against some Manila personalities. There's nothing wrong taking issue with other people in one's own blog, after all, that's your blog. But keep it within acceptable boundaries and make sure you got your facts right. Some people not only spread hate, they spread lies too.
I can't sleep. Even though Gav is *for now* sleeping peacefully, I can't turn my mind off. Just knowing we only have a month left before we move (in 30 minutes, it's exactly one month). We're going to be homeless.
I hate this part of the Air Force lifestyle, not knowing if you're going to have somewhere to live when you get to where you're going. We've had horrible luck finding any houses to rent (or look at through the internet) in Shreveport, we're not ready to buy a house yet though maybe if we found out we'd be staying there a few years we would consider it.
But for now, I'm just sitting here wondering where we're going to be in a month...sleeping in a hotel?!, or will we find an apartment to lease short-term. If you know me, you know that neither of those options are really what I'm comfortable with. But supposedly the wait for base-housing is either 3-6 months or 18-24 months...that's a big difference don't you think?!
It wouldn't be so bad, but living in a hotel with 2 dogs and a toddler is not an ideal living situation to say the least. An apartment is only a step above...if I learned anything staying with my parents these past two days...I've learned that a) my dogs have forgotten how to go "potty" while on a leash b) whippets are not meant to be confined to a house with no fenced backyard for longer than a couple of hours c)whippets do not calm down at age 2. d)my whippets can't be trusted with open doors for any length of time. I keep imagining them escaping in Shreveport, I know they would be smushed or just lost forever pretty quickly.
Talking to Andrew makes me feel a little more at ease, but I know finding somewhere to live isn't one of his top priorities while he's at survival. He's just trying to ummm..survive.
Maybe for once, we'll get straight into base housing with no wait, and then I'll have new things to concern myself about...like starting all over again finding friends, finding a new church, a MOPS group...this never ending cycle of get an assignment, pack, move, wait for somewhere to live, get a new place, unpack, nervously introduce yourself to a million (or so it seems) people, get settled into a routine, find amazing friends, get comfortable, AND THEN get new orders, lather, rinse, repeat! Sometimes I wonder what we've gotten ourselves into!?! So anyways- Sarah...I know you're worrying about different things, but just know you're not alone!!

We're still recovering from Gav's 12 months shots. This is the first time he's ever had a fever and now he's got a runny nose and just seems to feel terrible. It's been 2 days, and hopefully tomorrow will be a lot better. I'm sure he's glad to be back from Nana and Poppy's if only so he can sleep in his own bed again!
The dogs gave me a huge scare, they escaped at my parent's house and were gone for a good 20 minutes. That's an eternity for whippets to be off loose and running...but it's worthy of it's own post. I'll share it later!
For now, I have to go turn off the sprinkler, the backyard is baked and I need to mow it tomorrow- so I thought I could water it this afternoon to make it greener and less of a dust bowl...*fingers crossed* Plus it's supposed to rain this weekend a little bit!! So I want to get the grass cut before the rain. :)
So I decided to finally take everything that I have purchased over the past month out of the bags and spread it out on my kitchen table. I have been meaning to do some "haul" posts but I just never got around to. Everything was still in bags sitting on my kitchen table.
